Summer night Thunderstorm
One of the things that I miss most about NC is the summer storms that wake you up with a terrible crash of thunder and a bright flash of lightning,

LA somehow managed to requisition such a storm just for me, and now I'm glad I'm an insomniac. I've been laying here enjoying the sound of the drops pattering on the bacony and smelling the wet air, listening to the thunder and warching the fireworks, so to speak.

We haven't had one in years, at least over the LA basin, that I can recall.
You move back, and within a month we get one? I think you brought it from NC.
If a big earthquake happens in NC, we know you scared them away from us.
It's not global warming, it's something completely different.

I hate storms, mainly because I hate the destructive force behind them and the aftermath the comes after they've devistated a region.
Take away the destruction and they are pretty cool. However, I can't get past the destruction.
