RANT! or not...
F*cking Seacrest just called
THE GREATEST SONG OF ALL FREAKING TIME "a hit for Michael W. Smith in 1988"
WTF??? MORON! Paul Simon wrote the song Bridge Over Troubled Water in 1969 about the strain in his professional and personal relationship with his best friend of 30 years, Art Garfunkel. The third verse is about his first wife being depressed over finding a gray hair ("Sail on Silvergirl").
I was pissed. But then Bo opened his mouth. Happier now. Scott is good at it too, and Anthony has the same kind of voice as Art Garfunkel. Not bad, but I could have done with out the girls. They were both flat. Badly. And they skipped the second verse.
More on Idol in the extended entry.

Yeah, I was wondering what Seacrest was smoking. Is he really the best they can get?
Not sad to see Scotty go... Glad Anthony didn't get canned on his birthday! That would have sucked.
I can't even believe I let the 4th come & go so casually... May the Fourth be with you too, Caltechgirl!

Idol
I think this time I'm pretty safe saying that Scott, Anthony, and Vonzell are in the bottom 3.
Anthony and Vonzell are the bottom 2.
Not sure which is going home, though. Both had at least one off performance...
Bo rocked!!!
Carrie was pretty good, but I still don't like her.

I missed some here and there. Didn't someone get banished to live alone after Steph?

I liked Steph, I thought she should have gone further then she did. I also believe Tom is going to go soon. This game isn't actually about who the strongest is, it's about which physicall weak competitor can ride the coat tales of other stronger competitors.

Reminder to self
Do not go to bed at 9pm on Idol results night!
Holy Crap! Why didn't one of you email me? I can't believe Constantine is gone. I mean, no kiddin' he was crap on Tuesday, but they ALL were, including Bo.
Anthony, Vonzell, and Constantine in the bottom 3? COME ON. You've got to be kidding me! I would have put Anthony, Scott, and Carrie in the bottom three.
Who in hell is voting for Scott? and why?
More AI reactions here, here, here
Of course, this is good for Bo since they are no longer splitting the "rocker" vote.
Yay for Bo!
...and while we're on the subject, umm, Bo? Listen dude, you weren't fooling ANYONE with that Lenny Kravitz getup, mm'kay?

Oh my gosh! You slept through it??!! Paula was bawling, and I thought C's mother was going to pass out. C looked pretty shocked too (as did Scott, for that matter!).
Yeah, who IS voting for Scott? Insanity.
Go Bo! Go Bo! Yeah, that get-up has to go, but Go Bo!

I would love to see who is voting for Scott. It's kind of scary.
Although Constatine's performance Tuesday night was really bad, I wasn't ready for him to go yet. I was tired of being molested through the camera, but still felt Scott must go!
Maybe this is AI's way of trying to get others to vote? I dunno

as for myself, I think this kind of crap gives even more credence to ABC's allegations that the vote is rigged.
I mean, most people around here thought so when they couldn't even call in to vote for Clay.....

I'm going to take the contrarian view: I think Simon got it right.
Constantine started his journey as a grungy hard-rocker. For the last six or so weeks he has been a total pop-idol whore, doing pop-ish stuff or even rock-ish stuff in a very pop-y way, and totally vamping for the camera in such an obvious way he was totally whoring out. It was SOOOOO obvious. Rose and I both hated him for it. Mind you, in a way it's not fair, he obviously saw the rules of the game and was playing to them--but he was too shameless, too transparent.
This week he tried to go back to being a serious rock guy, and he totally failed. The teeny-bopper audience was totally disappointed--and guess what? Those of us who liked him in the first place were like, "ah, fuck you, you're full of shit."
Combine that with the fact that so many people are SO MEAN TO SCOTT, he's got that fat boy/city boy/rebel thing playing for him, and gets sympathy. Plus honestly, I think a lot of people who didn't like his performance the other night were just comparing it to Luther, rather than just evaluating it on its own merits. I actually thought it was one of his best performances.
I am only surprised because I'm delighted: I thought Constantine the Evil Genius might just win it. Instead he misstepped--those of us who saw through him had already had enough of his schtick, and the 13 year old girl audience was like, "Huh? What? Bleah!"

Oh, I forgot to mention WHY Simon got it right:
Simon said, "You crossed over to the dark side, you can't go back." Or words very close to that effect.
He was totally right. Constantine sold out and tried to be teen-flame. Then he tried to go back. No one liked it.

Ok, I agree this week was a good performance for Scott, but generally his is the weakest performance of the group, week after week, and I suppose you're right about Constantine, but he is a good singer, and I thought he was showing his versatility with the pop stuff. Maybe he just got voted out because he didn't wear the makeup this week.

Survivage Updated!
Today, being Thursday, is Survivor day. I can't wait to see Stephenie freak out over the creepy things in the jungle while she's out there alone. She ought to get a free pass for the next few days just for being out there alone and beating out all of the other Ulongs. Will they merge tonight or is Stephenie in for another few days of torture while Koror goes to tribal council? That would be just like the bastards who run the show.
I know at least a couple of you are big fans of the show, so here's your chance to chime in. What do you think will happen? If you've already seen the show by the time you run across this post, leave comments anyway. I'll update it and repost this after the show with my thoughts.

I said to Nin last week that I just didn't get it. What if she loses? She just goes away with no tribal council, or will they make her haul her stuff up and snuff out her torch?
I guess since this is the first time a team has been so horrible that they've been picked off one by one, they decided to go with it. I'm never good at paying attention to numbers, so I can't remember at what point they usually merge.
Maybe they'll merge in the morning. After we get her seeming all alone for a night in the jungle segment. Her and her camera crew

The dynamics are going to be interesting this time with the other team, and no merging of two different groups.

I'm surprised they waited to merge as long as they did. I missed the first 15 minutes of the show last night. I saw from when Stephanie arrived at the Koror camp. I think Coby made a tactical error when he gave Stephanie the low-down on the "aliances". He tipped his hand and I'm sure that info got back to Tom/Ian/Katie. Janu looked seriously surprised that coby was voted out. I think she's ready to go and was hoping she would be the one voted off.
Personally I was glad Coby got voted off, I was tired of his constant complaining about Tom and Ian.

I thought it was classy that they just folded Steph into Koror rather than have to come up with another tribal name and new buffs.
Coby gave up. Plain and simple. He quit playing the game, and that's why he was gone. I'm sure Janu is next, unless Greg and Jen heat up. But then again, I'm not sure what the fall out from the vote is going to be....
In any case, Tom, Ian, and Katie just solidified their alliance against Greg and Jen's scheming. If I was in their alliance, I would vote off Greg, Jen, Caryn, and Janu, in that order, since Greg is quite a threat and Tom and Ian are plenty good at providing fish and fire.

I missed last week when they left her alone. My first thought this week was "huh?" My second was "why didn't they do this sooner?" It is Survivor. Make 'em survive.
Steph fell apart so quickly that I kept asking my daughters how long they had left her there.
Now the previews show that someone else will end up alone next week. Ok, let's not overdo it.
